Introduction




This is a new blog brought about by the lack of reports and apparent lack of places to go for bird watching in the NE region coupled with the commonly held believe that "there are NO birds in Isan". This statement is wrong and we out to find them.

This is a totally non-profit blog by your authors Mark Hogarth and Paul Farrell who live in and have local knowledge of the area, but we need your support as its a big area to cover!!

Mark released a Cinnamon Bittern form a mist net. Kaeng Lawaa is an area with WWF protection and trapping of birds is illegal!!!

One of the most beautiful birds in Isan has to be the Silver-breasted Broadbill. It prefers pristine forested areas and can be found by first hunting for its distinct nest.
